Arthritis Neck Pain
There are millions of people who suffer with arthritis neck pain each year. Sometimes this pain can be nothing more than an uncomfortable bother; while many times the severity of pain can be so much that it may hinder your day to day activities. Some of the common causes and treatments for arthritis neck pain are as follows:
When you compromise with the condition of your spine , it usually results in the back pain. But since your spine runs right from your upper torso to the base of the skull, a compromised condition of the spine can also have an intense affect on the neck which results in varying degrees of pain.
The other reason of arthritis neck pain can be a result of an accumulated tension due to a lifestyle that is full of stress. Other day to day activities such as sleeping in awkward positions, lack of exercise, slouching over a desk, having poor posture, being overweight, and sprains and strains from sport-related injuries can cause arthritis neck pain.
Sometimes neck pain is caused due to medical Conditions as well. Already existing, or escalating health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and cervical degenerative disc disease can also be the root cause of neck pain. A chronic inflammatory disease that is Rheumatoid arthritis can potentially affect the synovial fluid inside neck joints. In this condition, the connectivity between two vertebrae becomes unbalanced and thus nerve roots are put under pressure.
Another medical condition called Osteoarthritis leads to a gradual loss of the cartilage that provides cushioning to the joints. In this situation, the two bones rub against each other which results in putting pressure on the nerves. This in turn can affect the neck causing arthritis neck pain.
Cervical degenerative disc disease also causes arthritis neck pain by way of causing the vertebrae to lose flexibility, and injure the discs. Once the damage is caused, the discs can squeeze the nerves. This results in the neck becoming stiff and stinging.
Besides medical conditions there can be other reasons like falls and car accidents which can cause neck pain. The pain in the neck is caused due to the sudden impact which leads to the neck’s extension beyond its normal range of movement. This can severely injures the soft tissues in the neck area besides harming the ligaments and muscles.
Arthritis neck pain treatment varies with the cause and severity of the conditions. Some neck pains go away itself with some rest, and by applying hot or cold wraps. Bringing simple changes in lifestyle like improving sleeping positions, avoiding stress, practicing proper posture, and regular exercising in order to strengthen the muscles and stabilize the spine can help in curing neck pain.
